The Importance of Community
Building a community has always been important to me. As a person suffering from depression, I’ve learned one can’t endure life alone. It was with this sentiment that I have been trying to feature indie authors. I’ve shown this through my Author Spotlight series through ko-fi and now want to expand it.
Through BookTube, I want to feature indie poets through #poetryThursdays where every Thursday me or Nicole will read a poem. It has been awhile since I’ve uploaded a poem on my YouTube channel and think it’s time to bring it back. Nicole always does a fabulous job of pairing music with poetry. Her YouTube channel has poetry with acapella song covers.

Author Spotlight
Laura Nettles is a California girl living in Toronto, Canada. She works in the film industry lighting visual effects during the day, and writes into the night. Shadows are her specialty. Summer of 2018 she learned about the wonders of Nation Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo. Since then she has been hooked on crafting atmosphere and worlds through the written word. Her fingers run rampant with sci-fi and horror; creating shadows of the mind and supernatural creatures. She has over 20 stories published across anthologies, magazines, zines and website. Many more dark tales are in the works and are currently on submission.
Tiny Shivers by Laura Nettles
A collection of micro, flash and short horror stories by Laura Nettles. A few have been published in anthologies and magazines already, but many have never been seen by the public.
Enjoy tales from various horror traditions. The collection is divided into Cosmic Slithers, Terrors of the Mundane, Angels and Demons, The Seeping Supernatural, Twisted Psychology, Shadowy Gothic, Mutated Sci-fi and Holiday Food Horror.
Poetry Open Mic
Join us on Saturday June 17th for a poetry open mic, that we hope to throw once a month. It will start at 8:00PM Eastern Standard Time, so bring poetry to read even if its poetry by published.
Authortube Writing Conference
The Authortube Writing Conference (AWC) was founded by S.D. Huston in 2022, and Margaret Pinard joined on as a partner in 2023. This year the conference will be held from June 23,2023 through June 25, 2023. Nicole and I are both honored to be included in this event as a speaker.
This conference's goals are about bringing people together from all aspects of the writing and the book-making process. This conference is an opportunity to get inside the world of writing craft, traditional and indie publishing, and to connect writers, authors, and professionals who all work toward adding great literature and knowledge to our world’s depository.
